SWARM is an annual event during which a bunch of galleries in Vancouver have an opening on the same night resulting in an amazing and exciting environment to view art. This year my studio and the whole building I’m in are opening our doors to the public and exhibiting the amazing wealth of talent hidden behind our walls!

Right now I’m madly editing away at a small collection of photos that I plan to put on display in my gallery (The Remington Gallery) as well as in the halls of the building, the Labyrinth Gallery.

Last year was fantastic with nearly 700 people passing through our building and work by close to 50 artists on display. This year is gearing up to be even better with more studios opening their doors and at least one after party planned.

SWARM is happening tonight in Vancouver! Initiated by the Pacific Association of Artist Run Centres in 1999, SWARM is an annual festival of Vancouver’s artist-run centre programming season. Over two nights in early september (tonight and last night (sorry for the late post)) it brings together events from some of Vancouver’s most vital and innocative contemporary art spaces.

This year my space is part of SWARM. Its called the Remington Gallery and is at 108 East Hastings. It is also one of the three gateways to the ACME building which contains around 20 studio spaces and three galleries (Remington, Labyrinth and The Gam). We’re opening our doors at 7:00. The Gam has live music at 10, the Acme has some sort of after party with DJs in one of the studios and our space has couches and me. And almost every surface of the building is covered in art.
